Having kitchens in the
apartments should keep food costs very low. There
are small markets at almost every street corner,
making food purchasing very simple. The public transportation
is one of the best in Europe with a subway/streetcar/bus/rail
system that eliminates the need for cars or a tour
bus. The $450 covers model fees, your instructor
and tour guide (me) and a wonderful introduction
to one of the least known treasures of Europe with
museums crammed full of Hapsburg and Ottoman Empire
pilfering that amasses work to rival the Metropolitan
in NY. Then there are the museums devoted to artists
like Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. And if you like
to eat.... ah Vienna's bakeries are infamous. This
will not be a diet trip!
I lived in the inner city in Vienna during my junior
year in college attending classes with IES in conjunction
with the University of Vienna. The son of family
I stayed with, Friedl Koszik, lived in our home the
following year. I visited with them in June in 2002
and we are looking forward to spending some time
together prior to the workshop.
